A Moment . . Or Maybe Not

Mia, our little mouse we call her because she's so squeaky, will be TWO in nine days!  Time never occurs to me until I clean out old clothes or look at old photos.  Every day and I mean absolutely every day, this child asks for a party.  I don't know that she realizes its her birthday she just wants a party.  In her world a party isn't great appetizers and a kegger - it means balloons, cakes (always plural) and presents.  She says it in this order every time.  So two is big for many reasons including impending enrollment in preschool.  I KNOW - WHAT!  When I say this key line to Curt, every time he says, Dawn, Sebastian was in daycare at 15 mos, she will be fine, she will love it, cut the apron strings.  So today we began whittling away at the string.

Here she is waiting to go on a preschool visit with her coupon for Food Lion.  I'm not sure what is up with the fingers as of late.

The preschool will enroll her in the fall and it was a kid's dream.  So many toys and stations.  Little people seats with big tasks.  Mia was entranced.  Frequently she said goodbye to me.  Or Mia stay and play?  CRACK - yep, that was my heart breaking and the apron string ripping.  A little dramatic maybe since it's only 3 mornings per week, but still.

So I thought I would test my feelings on my beloved six year old.  This kid is amazing and has no clue that he is only 6.  We were sitting on the couch together and I said Sab when you were in preschool did you miss me?  He replied, "Nope Mom , not at all."  "It was so fun there and nothing like school is now - geeze."  Me, hoping for some scrap of kindness said, "You didn't feel bad that I didn't stay with you?"  He replied, "Nope, really never thought of you, didn't have time, but I got into a ton of trouble ALL THE TIME."  He proceeded to say that Mia will love it and he guesses that she will be too busy to think about me too.  Well, OK, thanks for the comfort there.
I leave with this thought, it's amazing and quite a circus for the three of us to go to the store together.  They act as if they never get out in public.  Target is one of my all time favorites, just ask Curt and he will explode.  Anyway, every time we pass the lingerie section, Mia yells BALLOONS at the bras.  They are colorful and puffy - that's what she thinks.  I usually just keep rolling by so no one will hear her.  Well, Sab the other day stops in mid aisle laughing hysterically about her comment and proceeds to explain to her the concept of "boobies."  Maybe, just maybe the apron string ripping will be a good thing for my sanity.

A Week in the Life . .

Every day I visit certain blogs because I love the pictures, thoughts, projects, etc.  One of my favorites is Ali Edwards.  One day she featured her office and I fell in love.  So much paper and doo-dads (she uses this word a lot!).  Anyway, one of her ideas is to keep a week in the life.  Take pictures of random events each day, carry a journal with you, record things to just remember the time.

So we started.  On Monday.  Keep in mind until I met the Master Fly Lady, I wasn't into organization.  So I made picture envelopes for each day.  I even busted the label maker out for this!

Here are a few of the highlights so far:

Monday Play Doh Date - Can you tell how much she loves this?

Sab and London.  London thinking she would like to take a snooze.

Mia at bedtime with her new friend Bear.  Giving him "More kisses!"  Another friend in our travel bag.

If only they shared this love all the time.  Should have cleared the table I know.  I might try to crop it later.

So far so good!  The rest of our week will be in PA.  It will be a great end to our week!
